Twitter Power offers a good overview.

I’m always on the lookout for internet marketing books to recommend to my small business clients. I’ve been reading Twitter Power: How to dominate your market one tweet at a time by Joel Comm and Wiley publishing.

Twitter Power provides a comprehensive overview of Twitter. It discusses in detail how to use Twitter and it highlights key third party tools that will help you go further than with Twitter on its own. The author provides practical examples of tactical dos and don’ts and in general tries to help you navigate the world of Twitter, offering a 30 day plan for getting off to a good start.

If you have Twitter on your radar and want to understand the platform and get a sense of what you need to do to make it work for you, then this book is worth a read. If you’re already using Twitter and want to step up your efforts I would also recommend this book. However, if you are still deciding if Social Media and Twitter are worth your time, I suggest you look for more of an overview like Inbound Marketing (click for an earlier book review).

I give Twitter Power a solid 3.5 out of 5 ranking for a small business owner audience and a 4 out of 5 ranking for more savvy internet marketers.

DESIGN

In the design stage we get you crystal clear about who you are, whom you serve, what problem you solve, what your competitive positioning is and how you intend to grow sales profitably. The Being Profitable Program is the centre post of this stage.

BUILD

The build stage is about putting the sales and marketing infrastructure in place. Websites, videos, displays, CRM, e-commerce, web analytics and social media tools like Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, YouTube, Blogs and Stumble Upon are key structural components.

GROW

In the grow stage, we shift our focus to growing sales and developing website traffic. Search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), social media and public relations play key roles in this stage along with web analytics and sales performance optimization.
